What should you bring...
TO THE BOARD TABLE?

Maryann Bruce, one of Directors & Boards' "Directors to Watch 2017", advises that while expertise is the most important quality that boards are looking for, you should cultivate other areas as well. Those include:

1. Integrity and accountability - Demonstrate high ethical standards & integrity in your professional and personal life.

2. Strong communication skills - One of the most appreciated qualities in board directors is the ability to communicate your points of view in a compelling & persuasive manner, & to disagree without being disagreeable. Clear communication & respectful dialogue are essential.

3. Courage - Be willing to be different, step forward, speak out & voice your opinion, even if your advice runs counter to conventional wisdom.

*Stay tuned for more tips from Maryann Bruce in next month's newsletter.
